Week 18

Monday, June 1st, 2009 | Baby, Camille, Family, Outdoors | 3 Comments

How time is flying! It’s hard to believe we only have about a month left here in ABQ. We’re trying to enjoy all the great things the southwest has to offer while we still can. On Saturday we went out to breakfast at one of our favorite spots with a big patio to enjoy the Albuquerque sun, then we went on a hike with some friends in the Sandia foothills. Sunday we had another couple and their daughter over for brunch on our patio. While we didn’t check any items off our long to-do list, it was a great weekend nonetheless.

Camille is growing as fast as ever. New developments this week include a fascination with food and drinks, she lunges for just about anything we’re holding, and, inconveniently, a new interest in hair-pulling.

Week 5-6: Over the hump?

Saturday, March 7th, 2009 | Baby, Camille, Family, Outdoors | 3 Comments

We’ve read and been told that week 6 is usually the peak of fussiness in the life of a newborn. Apparently, after this turning point, everything starts to get a little easier for the baby, her digestiive system is more mature, she’s better able to soothe herself, etc. We’ve got our fingers crossed that this will be true for our little Camille. Some days she really seems to be snapping out of her fussy self. She has always been a fiery baby, moving from passion to passion in the blink of an eye. One minute she’s squealing in ecstasy and a second later she’s screaming in agony. Happily, these extremes seem to be settling down a little. Her new favorite thing is to stand up on our laps and look around. It seems that if she’s sitting down she thinks she’s missing out! She’s still really into black and white, and her favorite things to look at are still our faces. She’s really good at following moving objects now, and if she’s in a good mood, she’ll usually smile and squeal if we smile at her. Here are some pictures.
